Went to Hedone and had the rapide lunch menu, 6 courses lol I really really wanted the full lunch but thought I should be a bit more prudent and damn which I wasn’t haha
Gorgeous small space, 5 tables probably for 20 people in total. Lots of polished wood, cool painting dripping paint for landscape. Got an old skool record player.
Got a nice white wine from Tarn
Melon amuse bouche and also a smoked Boeuf cheek in a mini tart with fermented carrots. Very Yumm And creamy crab ball in soy sauce, Ponzu and Yuzu, With a gel topping and on a leaf. Nice but nothing amazing
Entree 1
Char char (from Mediterranean, like mackeral) sashimi with sauce and peaches. Very fresh and delicate Sesame cracker: delicate strands of herbs embedded in the cracker for a nice aftertaste. A lot of oil drenched on the cracker affecting the crunch but still tasty. Very good with the wine too!
Next wine: rosé de Ninette from around this region. Nice 🙂
Entree 2
Escalope de fois gras au poele with dashi, poured from a teapot lol great quality fois gras and the dashi was lovely. I liked the little ikura on top 🙂 that augmented the dashi. The wine worked well with it but didn’t enhance it.
***The next table got the full on fancy meal and they got entree 3 with scallops on the shell!
Refresher between courses: pomme sorbet with tarragon with a pipetted dash of calvados. superb! How delightful! Can get quite astringent but good with the tart green apple. Nice palate cleanser.
Plat 1
Fancy pho with house made broth and noodles, cooked and raw beef. Like waguy 🙂 excellent quality for the beef: very buttery and robust. Lovely pho soup broth – spices and flavourful and gently salty too but the noodles weren’t al dente enough. Too light and breakable.
Plat 2
Cheese cannelloni with morbier, fromage frais + chevre, fromage de noix and walnut oil 🙂 mmm served on this crispy nutty cracker yum cheese all blended together into a light, creamy, fluffy foam. Yum! *** They got something with lobster oil droolz
Dessert 1
Lemon and raspberry creme and dusting of a herb on a super delicate tuille/feuille with a yummy apricot 🙂 nice!
