Just been feeling tired and drained. The weather has been warming up and rather warm throughout the night affecting sleep.
Otherwise, it was fun meeting friends and going out! My friend V made some super yummy kidney bean curry with tomatoes and onions 🙂 Also she made some banana cake – Yum!!
We checked out a bar in Place Saint Georges and it was great to be in the sun! I had gotten some delicious ice cream from O Sorbet d’Amour beforehand yummmmmm Interesting flavours like Lait du Brebis + Cerise noir, speculoos and more! We did some shopping too this weekend 🙂
I tried some cheese from La crèmerie des biquettes and it was not bad! Kinda hit or miss as 1 was too salty for me (the pecorino), the mouldy looking one was unbalanced and not aged enough for me – it was an old taste 😦 The creamy chevre was very nice 🙂 And the cheese in ball form covered in Ash was yummy too :D. Maybe their chevre here is better than other options??
During the week, I went to O Bali and while it was pricy for the food I ordered it was super, super tasty! I had gado gado salad (which has noodles in it OMG! 😀 ) and the sates were very nice – the peanut sauce was very flavourful. The dessert was warm black rice with beans and coconut milk – YUM!! DEFINITELY would go back 🙂
I went to check out the bar, La Mécanique des Fluides, and it was very cool! Felt a bit like Melbourne with tons of people in tatts and super chill and laid back. Pretty cheap drinks too @ 3,5€ per glass. Then, went to Kong Bap for Korean food with friends. The photos were not accurate though 😦 When the food arrived, there were no fresh colourful veggies and I was a bit disappointed. Otherwise, it tasted ok. Wouldn’t come back here.
Marinated some yummy lamb rack lollipops in wild rosemary (I saw wild cuz I pinched some near the Bazacle building by Place Saint Pierre lol) and garlic! I follow this Delish D’Lites recipe and also added like 1 tbsp of lemon juice 🙂 Deeelish!!
I also made tzatziki sauce to go with the lamb – Actually made the sauce first: So creamy! The milk here is just exceptional! It was certainly the hero of the dish hahaha
I used this recipe from Cookie and Kate and had the following mods:
- no olive oil
- + fresh ground black pepper, to taste
- no mint
- + zest of lemon
- + more garlic
- garlic: grated
I didn’t know how important it was to grate the cucumber AND squeeze the water out. I have had tzatziki with chunks of cucumber and to me, it’s a really big difference! Grated cucumber really allows the taste to infuse more intensely with the yogurt and same for the garlic: grated garlic allows it to bind better and create a finer balance.
Lovely Japanese garden that’s free and easy to get to 🙂 It was a lovely day and not too hot nor cold. There was an adult duck (I guess the mom?) with 9 little baby ducklings 😀 So cute!!
