It’s been a lovely few days just chilling and relaxing in Paris. It feels like coming back home to familiarity with the language, metro, culture, food. It’s sure impressive how was can crave routine and unique experiences at the same time. I guess this is a “first world problem” so to speak. I feel very grateful to have this dilemma so to speak and to remember to enjoy the present and slow down… if need be.
Ruby was all happy and energetic and it was great to see her. I just chilled out mainly at their place, walks with Ruby in the woods and park and bought food to cook. Made steamed black bean sauce pork spareribs and stirfry one night and Singapore chow mein and steamed fish another night. I showed J how to make the chow mein and poach eggs too… So fun! It was so nice to just relax and enjoy some sun and nature walks. I really enjoyed getting to know J more. We had great chats about the world, books, feminism, politics. I am inspired by her confidence and self-awareness and kindness. I am so very grateful they bailed me out when some of my stay fell through. We traded some books: I passed on the new Agatha Christie Poirot and she gave me Women & Power. I’m looking forward to it.

I got some extra clothes at decathlon too: a thin waterproof jacket and yoga pants. I left on the 5th to stay in Montmartre. I caught up with F & K and we went to a great wine bar to catch up. Just wonderful chatting about all things under the sun and reminiscing too. They seemed to really like the tea towel from Prague too. We walked around the next day and had a relaxing lunch before seeing Saint Chappelle. Just stunning with the stained glass windows… Definitely still one of my favourite sites in Paris. We had a mini break and then got some dinner. What a wonderful time catching up 🙂
Then I went to the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts, Place des Vosges and walked around Belleville. I had been to both but forgot! Still nice to see. I did go to the Pere Lachaise Cemetery and that was cool to see the graves of famous people like Bizet , Moliere, Chopin.
I was rather distracted as my Toulouse place fell through and the guy was rather dodgy to tell me to cancel the reservation! Airbnb confirmed that he must do it. I can send a request to have him press the button. Done. Ugh. Now i have to look again for a place and it’s gotten more pricey…
I had dinner and a good chat with A who is also moving to Australia next year on the work and holiday visa 🙂 I gave her some tips but it was mainly a chat… It was so nice 🙂 she is really lovely and will do very well 🙂
I chilled out on the last day as I wasn’t feeling great. Again, I’m glad I had a clean, safe and comfy space to chill out. 🙂 I did catch up with E&C and it was wonderful to see them again too! We had a nice chill dinner with wine at a cute wine bar. M was there too and works with C. Then we went to another wine bar and tried an interesting Rose that was like a light red and an orange wine! Both fab 🙂
